The stipulation that true worshipers must follow a certain pattern indicates that worship that fails to do so must necessarily be false. What is this pattern that distinguishes true worship from false? It is worship in spirit and truth. The fact that both spirit and truth share one preposition in the Greek text (both here and in v. 24)10 unites the two nouns in some sense, perhaps indicating
